Would you buy a new Huawei phone with HarmonyOS?

At Huawei Developer Conference 2019, Huawei unveiled its home-grown operating system, HarmonyOS AKA Hongmeng OS. This new OS is built upon distributed technology that enables cross-device connections and provides a seamless user experience.

Initially, HarmonyOS was made available for the Smart Screen smart TVs and destined to be expanded on more devices in the coming years. Meanwhile, were also some rumors for a phone to launch with pre-built HarmonyOS.

In the following year, at HDC 2020, the company unveiled HarmonyOS 2.0 with platform support for smart wearables, in-car systems, and IoT devices. The company also laid a plan to introduce HarmonyOS in smartphones by the end of the year.

In the aftermath of the HDC 2020, Huawei launched the HarmonyOS 2.0 mobile beta for the developers and opened testing for the Huawei P40, Mate 30, and MatePad Pro devices.

At the event, senior Huawei officials also confirmed that the company will launch a new smartphone that will come with a pre-built HarmonyOS operating system. However, the company has not revealed any specific dates of the launch yet.

Furthermore, the Chinese tech giant also assured that most of the older devices capable of running HarmonyOS will be upgraded with this operating system.
