Huawei Kirin made a surprising return in the smartphone industry with a 7nm process technology and users are now looking forward to a 5nm chipset with the upcoming flagship Mate 70 series. But will it be possible so early? Let’s find out.

Over the past weeks, some rumors emerged on the surface regarding the Huawei Mate 70 series processor details. A few inputs hint that the Chinese tech giant may introduce powerful and efficient Kirin chipsets for the next Mate lineup this year.

Meanwhile, other leaks say that the Huawei Mate 70 Kirin chip could be equivalent to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 performance. Now new info suggests some more details about the approaching Mate 70 lineup’s processor.

Tipster @SmartPikachu notes that the second half of 2024 will welcome new products with 7nm chips and consumers can look forward to them. To some extent, this reflects that Huawei might use a Kirin 7nm chipset rather than 5nm, for Mate 70.

It could be heartbreaking news for those who were expecting changes in this segment. Being a new device, many netizens have been hoping for a 5nm chipset with the Huawei Mate 70 series. However, the tipster clues that it could remain at 7nm.

Although there is still a lot of time in the official unveiling of the next Mate-series and by that time, we may see new alterations and shifts in this concept.

Kirin 7nm chipset:

Huawei brought in a new 7nm processor with the Mate 60 series last year – the Kirin 9000s. It carries a CPU infrastructure of one big core at 2.62GHz, three medium cores at 2.15GHz, and four smaller A510 cores at 1.5GHz, forming an octa-frame.

It further supports Huawei’s self-developed Maleoon 910 MP4 GPU for high-end graphics rendering and effective visual effects. Meanwhile, the company introduced Kirin 9000SL and Kirin 8000 with downclocked performance cores for the Nova 12 series. Perhaps, Huawei may bring some new Kirin chips later this year.
