Will Huawei Mate 40 Pro get EMUI 14?

Huawei Mate 40 Pro popularity in the global market raises the question if it will get the EMUI 14 upgrade or not. The respective phone is one of the excellent devices of the company with several powerful features and tech-pack functionalities.

Mate 40 Pro came out of the box with Android 10-based EMUI 11 in October 2020. Over time, the company upgraded the device to EMUI 12 with interactive features. For instance, Multi-Device Task Viewer, Super Device, App Snippets, and more.

The old flagship currently runs on EMUI 13. Meanwhile, the company is constantly treating it with new security patches, bug fixes, as well as useful improvements.

Even after four years, the device is working effectively without causing many issues. Although a few points have made Mate 40 Pro users concerned about whether their charming smartphone will fetch the major EMUI 14 upgrade in the future.

Starting with regular security rollouts, Huawei has removed Mate 40 Pro from both monthly and quarterly update lists. This implies that the phone has reached the ‘Phased out’ stage and might receive only minor improvements in the time ahead.

Another reason is that Huawei has still not offered the EMUI 13.1 update to the Mate 40 Pro smartphones. The 13.1 version packs more impressive add-ons than the 13th build. It comes with smoother animations, camera upgrades, and more changes.

Next, the phone maker has not listed the device in the official EMUI 14 beta-eligible models. Hence, this led to the dilemma if Huawei Mate 40 Pro will get EMUI 14.

Chances for EMUI 14:

Now let’s take a look at why Mate 40 Pro still seems eligible for EMUI 14. The device uses Kirin 9000 5G chipset. It is still capable of running multiple operations simultaneously without leading to lag, buffer, or unnecessary freezing of any kind.

Huawei has released only two significant EMUI upgrades for the Mate 40 Pro devices so far. Thus, the phone could run at least one more major build like EMUI 14.

HarmonyOS 4.2 in China

The Chinese phone maker has already released HarmonyOS 4.2 for Mate 40 Pro users in its home ground. It now holds several new features like an anti-false alarm for malicious apps, a WLAN network switch, better security upgrades, and new themes.

A report also noted that Huawei is testing HarmonyOS NEXT-based apps with Mate 40 Pro devices. With the newest software releases in China, the company has shown that the respective device is still eligible for new updates.

EMUI 14.2 upgrade roadmap shows only 13 devices for the time being. It only counts the top flagships alongside a few Nova models. Thus we expect that the tech giant may expand this rollout to more devices in the coming weeks. Still, it depends on Huawei if it brings EMUI 14 for this phone or not.

Whatever the decision is, we will keep you posted with the latest software development on this subject. Stay tuned.
