Huawei Mate 70 flagship could launch next month and is rumored to bring a titanium design. That would be a major change for this flagship but is it happening?

For years, Huawei has been launching two flagship phones with different designs and features. The P series, now Pura, brings top-of-the-line camera technologies, and the Mate 70 series focuses on premium design and high-end specifications.

This terminology has been optimized with the Pura 70 launch, which conceptualized a design language. The phone continues to provide the essence of the P series but with a new camera layout.

Still, the material is the same in both devices and each time it gets furnished.

Titanium would make more sense for the company and separate the two flagship phones from each other. It will also provide a new look for the Mate flagship.

Last year, Apple launched the iPhone 15 series with an aerospace-grade titanium design. It’s available with Pro and Pro Max models. There are no other materials available with these two variants. That means, standard and Plus models continue to use traditional design.

If Huawei plans to bring titanium with the Mate 70 series, it should also appear in the Mate 70 RS or probably in the Mate 70 Pro+. Meanwhile, Mate 70 and 70 Pro will use an aluminum frame.

We’ll have to see what type of colors Huawei chooses for these titanium models.

Why Titanium?

This material can provide a high-strength design due to its unique composition. It is bent and break-resistant. Despite its strength, titanium is lighter compared to steel and aluminum.

This may allow the manufacturer to slightly optimize components for better performance. It is also corrosion and scratch-resistant to keep its aesthetics safe.

Huawei has already used this material in Huawei smartwatches such as the Watch GT 3 Pro Titanium. Therefore, the tech maker is already familiar with its use. So, the only change it needs to make is to tune it up for smartphones.

Huawei Mate 70 series is expected to unveil next month and there’s more information coming soon on this matter.
