WhatsApp will soon let you share status updates from desktop app version
WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will soon enable its users to share status updates from the desktop app version. It would be a useful add-on to the application if available in the future. But there is a small catch in this functionality.
The company is testing a feature that will allow Apple Mac users to post status updates using the WhatsApp desktop app version. A similar facility for Android has been tested in December last year to upload status using the linked/companion devices.
Now WhatsApp is bringing the same benefit to Mac users with the newest beta 24.11.73 version. The respective device users can install the update via the TestFlight app.
Installing the latest update on your Apple Mac will show you a new status icon on the sidebar. Tapping on it will open a new window with the pencil and camera icon, allowing you to share the status in image or text as per your preferences.
Earlier the feature only allowed Mac owners to view the status updates of their contacts via the desktop version without posting. But now you can enjoy this facility on a large-screen device, without using your mobile phone. After a stable version rollout, the company will widely release this feature to more users.
