WhatsApp is working on a new feature called “Album Picker”. From the name, this capability will enable users to quickly pick images or videos and share them. It can save you from spending too much time or scrolling for hours in the media section.

The company has now released the WhatsApp Android beta 2.24.16.5 version, which shows a glimpse of the Album Picker feature. The latest update is currently rolling out to some beta testers. But it will soon be available to the general consumers.

Album Picker in WhatsApp will improve the user interaction with the media section. With the new add-on, users will easily switch from one album to another.

The Album Picker feature shows three main categories in the ‘Recent’ overflow menu. These include Recents, Videos, and WhatsApp. Users can further tap on “See More” to explore more album options like Downloads, Screenshots, and others.

Earlier, the media section used to show two parts “Recent and Gallery”. The former option keeps the recently used or captured images/videos while the latter allows you to select content from various albums. But the redesigned gallery looks more precise.

It is easy to navigate and offers a clean look rather than a cluttered one. Users will also see number of images or videos present in an album for accurate details.

The feature is in the testing stage and open to limited users. But you can enroll in the Google Play Beta Program to explore the newest additions to WhatsApp in advance.
