WhatsApp testing Protect Chat Backup feature to set password on cloud hosted backups
WhatsApp is continuously improving its user experience and the company has recently brought a new Dark Mode feature to its mobile app platform.
Before rolling out for regular users, WhatsApp is testing several features under its beta belt and there’s one new feature that WhatsApp users should know about.
WhatsApp is working on new features related to users’ data security that could possibly protect user chat backup hosted on third-party cloud services such as Google Drive, reported Wabetainfo.
The feature will allow users to set both encrypt and password protection to chat history to prevent data theft in your conversations.
The same protection can be applied to the cloud backups of your WhatsApp histories. So even if someone manages to get access to your cloud storage, it’ll still need your password to access the WhatsApp backups.
The new secure chat feature is currently under development and it’s not confirmed when it’ll actually be released for public users.
