After the tag feature, WhatsApp is now testing a new “reshare” feature for status updates. The latest capability is currently in testing and available to some beta testers through the Google Play Beta Program. Tap HERE to sign up as a beta user.

On September 17, WhatsApp rolled out the 2.24.20.3 beta update with the “mention feature”. This addition to the app will enable users to tag their contacts on status updates, just like Instagram. It also maintains privacy and enhances app interaction.

Now the company is making this capability more useful with a reshare tab. Found in the Android beta 2.24.20.9 version update, WhatsApp will soon allow its users to reshare status updates in which they are mentioned.

Inputs reveal that users will see a new reshare button on the statuses in which they are tagged. Tapping on this button will reshare the particular content on their status.

Note that the reshare tab is quite simple and doesn’t have a description at present. It could be initially confusing for users when looking for the reshare button.

Although the company may bring a large and more recognizable button with both icon and text in the time ahead. It might show up above the caption bar in the status updates. The feature is in testing but will soon be available via a stable release.
