WhatsApp rolls out new ‘voice message transcript’ feature for Android
WhatsApp is releasing a new beta update for Android devices which brings a “voice message transcript” feature. Eligible users can explore the newest capability through the Google Play Beta Program. While others have to wait for a stable update.
Spotted in the Android beta 2.24.15.5 version, WhatsApp is testing a useful feature called voice message transcript. It will enable users to read their audio messages with the transcript facility. This will make the overall chat experience more interactive.
Users will further get 4-5 languages to choose as the one they want to transcribe their voice message into. This feature will let you turn on the transcription mode for all incoming as well as outgoing audio messages with end-to-end encryption.
The new feature could be available to limited countries due to fewer languages. Although the company might add more dialects under the transcript language section.
Since these voice message transcripts are generated on-device, it won’t let others hear your voice notes or read the transcription. Thus, the accessibility feature is quite significant and effectively improves the app experience for users.
It is quite perfect for times when you are unaware of a certain language in a group chat. The feature is rolling out to beta testers for the moment. However, WhatsApp will soon release a stable build for the general public.
