WhatsApp is making group chats more interactive and useful with a new “events” feature. As the term suggests, the latest addition to the chat application will enable users to manage or organize events in group conversations and mark important dates in real time.

The company released such a feature for communities, a few weeks ago. Later, it introduced an ‘event reminder’ feature for the same section to enhance event management to a greater extent. Now it’s time to integrate this capability into regular group conversations.

Spotted in the WhatsApp Android beta 2.24.14.9 version, WhatsApp is rolling out the ‘group chat events’ feature widely to all users. If not received yet, you can wait for a few days and keep checking for the latest version on Google Play Store.

In any group chat, tap on the attachment clip icon to open the tools window. Amid several options like document, camera, and more, you will see a new ‘Event’ tab.

Using this function will let you feed details like name, description, date, venue, and an option to attach a voice/video call option if required. When created, the event will be visible to all members within the group chat. They can also accept event invitations.

Events feature remains end-to-end encrypted and doesn’t affect users’ privacy. Meanwhile, only members of a group will be able to access event details. WhatsApp is rolling on this feature to both beta and non-beta testers. Hence, you will soon be able to experience it.
