WhatsApp readying a new ‘Security Checkup’ feature for Android
WhatsApp is working on a prominent ‘Security Checkup’ feature for Android device owners. After several new capabilities and AI tools, the company is now developing a way to secure users’ accounts and info in a better way.
As spotted in the Android beta 2.24.15.13, WhatsApp is introducing a new Security Checkup feature. The addition will be similar to the “Privacy Ckeckup” in the app. Users will find security-dedicated tools in the new section with easier access.
Inputs reveal that users will soon be able to manage their account’s security settings effectively. Opening the new checkup page on WhatsApp shows three main tools:
- Passkey: WhatsApp account holders can use this tool to select a screen lock method. For instance – face, fingerprint, etc.
- Email: This feature will help users recover their WhatsApp accounts in case they aren’t receiving verification codes through SMS.
- Two-step verification: Users can add a 6-digit code to their account for more security.
All these features act as an extra layer of security for your WhatsApp account. These settings are easy to access and provide a shield to your confidential conversations as well as the account details. Users may also receive alerts to update their security settings.
The latest capability is available to some Android beta testers via the Google Play Beta Program. But WhatsApp won’t take much time to roll out this feature to more users via a stable release.
