WhatsApp is planning to expand the “Event Feature” to the community announcement groups. The useful function is already present for community group chats and regular groups. But the company now aims to bring it more users on Android devices.

As found in the WhatsApp Android beta 2.24.16.8 version, the Event feature for the community announcement groups is live for beta testers. The update is rolling out through the Google Play Beta Program and will approach more users in the coming weeks.

The new Events feature on the community announcement groups will enable admins to easily create events within their group. It will further lead to a better connection between admins and their group members in the community.

Admins will be able to highlight their events as required so they might not lost amid various messages. In other words, admins can manage the events and make them easily accessible for their community group members.

One can also share an important announcement, schedule it, or review it using the event feature. Doing so will ensure that announcement group members never miss any planned events or lose any important updates in the community.

With the event feature, WhatsApp aims to enhance event management in the overall application including all community groups. The new capability for the community announcement groups is in testing. But it will soon be available to general community members.
