WhatsApp is rolling out a new beta update for Android device owners that brings a few in-app camera effects. The company aims to enhance the camera section of the app to a significant extent, providing a more reliable experience to users.

As per the Android beta 2.24.20.20 version, WhatsApp is pushing off new in-app camera effects to some testers. The update is available via the Google Play Beta Program.

The company has been testing new features for the camera section for a long while. One of these is the AR feature for call effects and a few filters. These tools aim to enhance the video calling experience for users to the fullest.

Now WhatsApp is applying more new effects to the camera. When opening the camera in the app, users will see a new filter tab below the shutter. Earlier this tool was only available for video calls. But now one can access this feature for regular media sharing as well.

Users can tap on it to enhance their photos and videos, making them more creative. One can also make real-time adjustments while capturing the pictures in the app using these filters. Just swipe and select the filter option as per your preference.

Filters like skin-smoothing are also available to beautify individuals. These filters reduce blemishes and brighten the skin tone as well as give a realistic look.

This update also brings a background-changing feature for video calls. One can swap the real-world scenario with a virtual scene or blur the current background as per their needs. It also supports lighting adjustments for clear video calls.

These new features are currently in the beta phase. Although WhatsApp may soon release them via a stable update.
