WhatsApp is readying a new Double Tap reaction feature for Android

WhatsApp will soon bring an Instagram-like “Double Tap reaction” feature for Android users. With the new function, WhatsApp aims to make the message reaction capability more interactive and easy for its application customers.

The company has pushed a new beta update for Android devices with the 2.24.16.7 version. This build presents a double-tap reaction feature for users to quickly react to messages.

Quick reaction feature is already being tested for media content like images, videos, GIFs, and more. One can access the feature directly from the media viewer screen. Now WhatsApp is readying a Double-Tap reaction feature to enhance the quick response capability for normal messages.

Speaking of the new addition, a simple double-tap gesture on the message will quickly send a default heart reaction to the recipient. Instead of doing a long process, users can now quickly double-tap on the screen to express their feelings.

The new feature not only saves time but also improves the interaction on WhatsApp. Don’t worry as you can still be able to tap on the emoji tray and choose a different emoji whenever required. The company might also introduce a toggle to disable this feature to prevent accidental double-taps on old messages.

WhatsApp is rolling out the new feature via the Google Play Beta Program to limited beta testers. Although the significant addition could soon show up on your phone through a stable version.
