WhatsApp announces a new ‘Favorites’ filter feature for important chats/calls
WhatsApp debuts a new significant feature called “Favorites filter” for the important chats and calls section. From the name, the latest capability will enable users to prioritize their contacts and keep the important ones at the top of the list.
The company has been testing ‘Favorites’ for Android and iOS devices for a long time. Now it has officially announced a wider rollout of this feature for general consumers.
As per the official details, the new ‘Favorites filter’ feature in WhatsApp makes it easier to find your beloved contacts. The functionality picks the important contacts. It further places them at the top in the chats, groups, or calling list for easier access.
The ‘favorites’ filter appears at the top of the chat section. Tapping on it will lead you to a new page revealing your recent or important contacts as per your settings. Note that one has to select contacts, chats, or groups and locate them in the favorites tab to experience the new comfort.
Further benefits of this feature include faster phone calls, as they are just one tap away. Users don’t have to search or scroll down to look for one particular contact.
How to access: Click on the “Favorites” filter at the top of the chat interface. Now tap on “Add to Favorites” and select your important contacts. You can easily add, organize, or remove these contacts according to your requirements.
For other sections:
- From the calls section, click on ‘Add to Favorites’ at the top with a heart icon. Now select your contacts or groups.
- Manage your ‘Favorites’ via Settings > Favorites > Add to Favorites. You can rearrange them at any time.
Note that this feature is rolling out widely and will soon be available on your device. Meanwhile, users need to ensure that they are running the latest version of WhatsApp.
