WhatsApp is rolling out a new beta build for Android which brings a new “locked chats” feature for Linked Devices. The latest addition to the communication app will enhance both connectivity and users’ privacy with a much better experience.

From the name, the Locked Chats feature for Linked Devices aims to add an extra layer of privacy for your secret or confidential conversations in WhatsApp.

The company is releasing the new feature via the 2.24.11.9 Android beta update to a handful of testers. Others who want to explore this feature ahead of its official rollout, can join the Google Play Beta Program and take part in the testing activity.

Locked Chats allow users to shield their important conversations through the linked devices. Enabling the feature requires a secret code to open the chats from any linked device. Note that you need to use your primary handset to generate the code.

After producing a code, the locked conversations will disappear from the app’s chat list on other linked devices and will only show up once you use the code.

This secret code will remain synced with other linked devices so that you can cover your private chats at any time and from any device using the same password. It is not only a significant but also a beneficial feature to maintain user privacy.
