WhatsApp 2.24.11.15 beta rolls out a new ‘status mention’ feature
WhatsApp is now releasing the 2.24.11.15 beta version for Android devices which brings a new “Status Mention” feature. From the name, the latest add-on will let you quietly put your contacts’ names into your status updates within a few minutes.
The information reveals that WhatsApp is designing a new feature that will notify users as soon as someone from their contacts mention them in their status.
Just like Instagram and Facebook apps, WhatsApp will soon enable users to mention their friends or family members on their status updates for better interaction.
Note that these mentions will always remain private. In simple words, no one from the viewers’ list will find out where you have been mentioned or who else belongs to the mentioned group. Hence you don’t have to worry about the security aspects.
WhatsApp ensures that the mentioned contacts in the status stay hidden, shielding their privacy. Thus, whenever someone mentions you on their uploaded status, only you will receive a notification and others won’t be able to know anything.
The company is rolling out the new update through the Google Play Beta Program to a handful of Android devices. But the general public will also be able to check this feature in the upcoming weeks via a stable release.
