We could see a 200MP periscope zoom camera flagship soon
In 2019, Huawei P30 Pro started the trend of periscope camera zoom. Since then, there are various improvements made to this technology. Therefore, we may see a better version of the periscope camera at up to 200MP on a flagship phone from a company other than Huawei.
Tipster DigitalChatStation saying that a new Honor phone will come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for the top model. The phone could be the Honor Magic 6 Ultimate, which is unreleased. It’s also revealed that the device will equip a 50MP main camera system with improved photography quality using a 1-inch SONY IMX sensor.
On the other hand, the phone will use a brand new 200MP periscope zoom camera with new cropping technology. This may be the first time we witness such an increase in quality for the periscope cam. Compared to this, the Magic 5 Ultimate offers 50MP telephoto lens.
The tipster further elaborated that the 200MP periscope telephoto has a size of 1/1.5 inches. What’s more interesting is that the telephoto camera quality will be matchable to the main camera with this much pixel count and sensor size.
Currently, most of the phone makers including Huawei turned towards 64MP periscope zoom. On the flip side, Samsung is also taking help of its 200MP camera to maintain pixel quality in zoomed images.
Honor Magic 6 Ultimate:
It will sport BOE developed screen with a 2K pixel resolution with 3840Hz PWM. It also brings super-fast charging and Honor’s own Qinghai Lake batteries. Meanwhile, the tipster predicts that the phone will enter the market by next year, if not released in 2023.
Aside from Honor, there may be other companies that could also utilize this new periscope camera.
