Vivo X100 Pro+ begins testing satellite SMS technology
Vivo has started testing the satellite SMS technology for its X100 Pro+ device. While Huawei was the first to unveil the satellite communication capability with the Mate 50 series, other smartphone vendors have begun following the same path.
In recent times, the satellite communication feature has become a significant topic for tech makers like Apple, OPPO, and Samsung. No doubt, Vivo doesn’t want to lag in this advanced technology race.
Earlier, a Weibo tipster reported that the upcoming Vivo lineup could equip satellite SMS features. Now adding confirmation to this point, another tipster named @SmartPickachu said that the Vivo X100 Pro+ began testing satellite SMS technology.
First Chinese Satellite chip:
According to the information, the Vivo X100 Pro+ is likely to use a Unisoc V8821 satellite communication chipset. Notably, this is the first Chinese satellite processor that will integrate some common features related to baseband, radio frequency, power management, storage, and other communication elements.
Besides, the respective chipset supports S (2 to 4GHz) and L (1 to 2GHz) dual frequency bands to operate data transmission, text messaging, calls, and location-sharing functions more efficiently.
Moreover, the Unisoc chipset focuses on low power consumption and small and high area reliability. One can opt for several operations such as direct connection of phones to satellites, satellite Internet of Things, and satellite Internet of Vehicles.
The Vivo X100 series is hearsay to launch in March 2024 with a giant 5400mAh battery, 120W fast charging, as well as the flagship Snapdragon 8 chipset. And the satellite SMS tech addition to this lineup will make it a powerful competitor against Huawei.
