UK Prime Minister may process ban on Huawei under the US pressure
The US is looking to get Britain ready on barring Huawei equipment from the 5G rollout and this idea seems to be backed by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, to opt for a ban on the telecom giant.
Donald Trump’s security adviser John Bolton said British officials were looking “from square one on the Huawei issue” – a view confirmed by a government source who said national security was the paramount focus under the new administration, reported FinancialTimes.
“What they said was ‘we would like to review this and be very sure about our decision and we too are concerned about the security of our 5G telecommunications network’,” said Bolton.
The US has already imposed the trade ban on Huawei and its Five Eye allies including Australia and New Zealand has also taken ban approach on the telecom giant citing security espionage, which the company has repeatedly denied.
Meanwhile, the UK and Canada are the two countries and also the member of the Five Eyes alliance, has not barred Huawei and continuesly being forced by the US. On the other hand, Trump has warned Britain that it will lose its allies from Five Eye if it chooses to go with Huawei.
Although, a final decision yet comes by the UK government. However, major telecoms in the UK has already started using Huawei’s network gear and launched their 5G services.
