U.S. will soon issue licenses on selling technologies to Huawei

The U.S. government has announced that it’ll soon issue licenses to companies on doing business with Huawei including a catch.

Speaking at a conference in Washington, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said that companies would only be allowed to sale techs that are widely available and no threat to the national security, reported Reuters.

He also confirmed that Huawei would remain on the Entity List, meaning that the licensing requests to sell goods to Huawei have to go through more high-level inspections. Although, he didn’t confirm which items will be allowed and which will be denied.

In May, the US Commerce Department added Huawei in the trade blacklist and abandoned company’s business with tech firms inside the country. Few days after, the commerce announced a 90 days temporary license to manage its existing customers, which will expire on Aug 19 and expected to be expanded.

Following this, on June 29, the US President Donald Trump announced that Huawei can resume buying US technologies.

This remarks made by Trump brought joy for Huawei suppliers but some of the White House officials say companies would only be allowed to sell “non-sensitive” technologies to Huawei and the terms on additional licenses are subject to remain.

For now, Huawei is waiting to get approval on resumptions of Operating services Android and Windows, and hardware component including chips.
