U.S. reportedly canceled 8 export licenses for Huawei this year
U.S. has once again tried to create problems for Huawei by canceling 8 export licenses. Starting this year, the Biden administration has restricted more firms from supplying goods to the Chinese tech giant, according to an alleged document.
The document highlights license cancellations on exercise equipment, office furniture, low-technology, and mass-market items (touchpad, touchscreen for tablets).
Commerce Department believes that foreign firms made it easy for China to access these products. Hence, there is a need to pull off these benefits from the region.
“Since the beginning of 2024, the Commerce Department has revoked eight additional licenses involving Huawei.” – written in the document.
In May, the U.S. Commerce Department restricted export licenses of certain companies including Intel and Qualcomm to ship equipment or other items to Huawei. This ultimately made the chipmakers concerned about their sales revenue this year.
The Commerce Department didn’t mention the names of other firms in this case. Although the aim of this revocation is quite clear. The Biden administration doesn’t want Huawei to take the lead in the high-end technological products like 5G chips.
Even though Huawei denied being a security risk, the U.S. authorities continue to place new limitations on it. Companies that were free to ship their goods and equipment to the Chinese tech maker during the Trump era have now received a ‘license canceled’ notice.
U.S. restrictions suddenly rose after Huawei introduced its Mate 60 Pro smartphone with a Kirin 5G chip. The device not only resulted in sales success but also helped the company recover from its deteriorating business conditions.
Huawei’s smartphone business took a new pace with the Kirin 5G chip return. The OEM again gave a headache to the U.S. authorities with the Pura 70 Ultra’s Kirin 9010 chip and MateBook X Pro 2024 equipped with the Intel Core Ultra 9 processor.
Following the MateBook X Pro’s success in the consumer market, the U.S. not only showed rage towards Intel but also put a barricade on it from shipping more chips to China. It would be worth seeing how far these actions restrict Huawei from reaching new heights.
