Reported last week said that Huawei is set to get an extension for its temporary license that is now confirmed by the US Commerce Department despite the ups and downs from Donald Trump.

Trump says he doesn’t want to do business with Huawei and the reason is unhappy trade talks with China

On August 19, US Commerce Department Secretary Wilbur Ross said during his interview with Fox Business, that his department will grant another temporary reprieve to Huawei Technologies, delaying the implementation of a penalty on the Chinese tech giant for another 90 days.

“There is another 90 days for the U.S. telecom companies, some of the rural companies are dependent on wild ways,” said Ross. “So we’re giving them a little more time to wean themselves off. But no specific licenses are being granted for anything.”

The “temporary general license” was due to expire on August 19 and after this new extension, the next deadline will be Nov. 19.

On Sunday, US President Trump said he doesn’t want to do business with Huawei and his administration was not likely to grant another reprieve to Huawei, citing national security concerns.

The US commerce department in May, added Huawei into the trade blacklist or ‘Entity-List’, citing that the company poses a national security threat of which the company has repeatedly denied.

Later on, the company was provided a 90 days reprieve that ends on August 19. As this new extension will give the company a new timeline to maintain existing telecoms networks customers and provide software updates to its Huawei smartphones.
