Trump’s return to the U.S. could positively impact Huawei and the Chinese chip industry. Some top analysts and Beijing lawmen believe that the newly elected president could make good changes to the harsh policies suppressing China.

Donald Trump is ready to take up the ‘President’ seat in the U.S. He will be the 47th President of the United States and sworn in at his inauguration on January 20, 2025.

While the U.S. is busy with Trump’s return, the Chinese chip industry and Huawei are planning how this occasion could benefit them. According to Reuters, China’s semiconductor sector sees opportunities in Donald Trump’s comeback to the U.S.

The Chinese chip industry is reportedly speeding up the purchase of the US and other foreign chipmaking tools. It is also planning to hire talented and skilled workers from different regions across the world to build up new alliances in the country.

Reuters noted several articles by Chinese chip firms, associations, and top analysts after Trump’s victory in the U.S. presidential elections. Most of these articles revealed strategies like making closer ties with those who are away from the US election rules.

It also stresses the self-sufficiency aspects. The deputy secretary-general of the Beijing Semiconductor Industry Association – Zhu Jing stated that chip firms should strengthen their business in the foreign markets and expand them in more countries.

China should prepare itself

Zhu adds that the tough U.S. sanctions might get weakened under Trump, benefitting the Chinese chip sector. At the same time, he says that chip firms should also recruit more foreign talents to remain on the safer side, in case Trump makes the policies even tougher. One of his articles on WeChat reads:

“After Trump takes office it is possible that there will be some benefits to the development of China’s semiconductor industry in terms of professional talents, multinational companies, and foreign cooperation. I recommend that we adapt to the new situation and changes on time.”

Other analysts further mentioned that Trump’s first term has made China realize the importance of self-sufficiency. It has now understood the necessity of localization. Hence, the Chinese chip makers should also be prepared for any kind of decision coming from the foreign side.
