Kunlun Glass:
The thickness of the strengthening layer of the current traditional glass panel is about 150um, and the technical path of only relying on the enhancement of the strengthening layer has encountered the ceiling.
Therefore, Huawei engineers took a different approach. They found inspiration from the hard and durable reinforced concrete structure and made a technical path to introduce a large number of nanocrystals into the glass to form a dense support structure. This has improved the glass’s drop resistance.
Eventually, by using specific metal oxides, Huawei utilized billions of billions of high-strength nanocrystals in Kunlun glass. These are combined with composite ion-enhanced implantation technology, to form a micron-scale hard protective layer on the glass surface, resulting in high-strength crystals and glass.
The fusion of transparent optical materials finally solves the industry problem of glass-ceramic material strength and optical matching, and the drop resistance is increased to 10 times. This can effectively reduce the damage to the screen when it’s dropped accidentally, even on a hard surface.
