The use of AI increases development efficiency, not the technology or applications: Huawei Chairman

Huawei’s Rotating Chairman Hu Houkun gave a keynote speech about AI development and various scenarios at the inauguration ceremony of  2021 World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai China.

He informed that the 12345 hotline service in Shanghai has recorded an average of over 600,000 queries a month with an estimate of 20 queries per minute during the pandemic. The AI development has been come far away from what was it previously, but still needed some polishing.

Leading further suggestions he guided various paths such as new urban infrastructure, deep-rooted technology, and vigorous use of technological means can help us bringing breakthroughs in the AI industry.

New Urban Infrastructures:

At first, the chairman suggests to built new urban infrastructures, which will redefine the artificial intelligence computing centers. It’ll help to expand the computing power like public resources, within reach on each user such as hydropower.

He said that we should focus on advancing the digital economy and simultaneously developed the new urban infrastructure represented by AI. We can only achieve this goal with industrial joint efforts.

Deep-rooted Technology:

Then we have to implement deep-rooted technology for the establishment of the AI industry. This is an essential approach concerning the complex administrative structure in China. Thus, only deep-rooted and firmly develop technology can be used in this scenario.

Vigorous Use of Technological Means:

Last but not least, we should vigorously use technological means to fight against the stagnation at the present AI inclusiveness. Furthermore, Chairman Hu believes that the slowdown in the extensiveness of AI is development efficiency, not technology and applications.

He elaborates that at present the development efficiency of AI is gradually slow and isn’t able to satisfy the quality and quantity at the same time. We are still using the old approach that needed to be changed to bring rapidly fast efficiency.
