Tecno giving tough spot to Huawei with an innovative tri-fold concept

Tecno has surprisingly joined the tri-fold game with an innovative concept. Ahead of Huawei’s triple foldable launch, the Transsion subsidiary shared impressive designs of its triple-folding display device named the “Phantom Ultimate 2”.

With a dynamic concept, Tecno hints that the tri-fold game will soon reach a new level. The company dropped new images on the online social media platform, unveiling an ultra-thin triple foldable device with iconic camera lenses and beauty at peak.

Describing the new Tecno tri-fold concept, the company wrote:

“The Ultra-thin PHANTOM ULTIMATE 2 Tri-Fold Concept, followed by our first innovative concept Phantom Ultimate, is our latest advanced foldable innovation that continues to underscore our commitment to explore and innovate the most advanced new technologies.”

Looking into the images, the new triple-fold device appears thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6. When unfolded, it opens into a 10-inch display made with the TDDI technology.

Display:

Also known as Touch and Display Driver Integration, TDDI is a perfect fusion of a touch sensor and a display driver. Both these elements are integrated into a chip that eases the touch response on the display and offers thinner and brighter screens.

Phantom Ultimate 2 further shows the thinnest battery cover which has a dimension of 0.25mm. Tecno used the super-compressed Titan Advanced Fiber material to make the back panel of the device. Thus, the panel remains convenient and durable.

As soon as you fold the device, it becomes a 6.48-inch size phone. The 10-inch OLED screen offers a 4:3 aspect ratio with a 3K LTPO screen that has a 392 PPI.

Hinge:

Tecno has opted for a “state-of-the-art hinge design” which is 2100MPa powerful and can go through 300000 folds. Perhaps, durability and crease won’t be a major problem with the all-new TECNO PHANTOM ULTIMATE 2 tri-fold phone.

An internal software feature is a “tent mode” that simplifies face-to-face real-time conversations. It also supports AI translations. One can also use the base screen of the device as a keyboard while making the other two panels as the main display.

It’s not the first time when Tecno has surprised the world with a brilliant foldable concept. Last year, the company introduced the Phantom Ultimate – a rollable phone concept. But the device never launched in the market, and so could be the case here.

Huawei – the first tri-fold phone maker!

In that manner, Huawei will remain the first to launch a tri-fold phone in the consumer market. The company has confirmed to unveil its innovative folding phone next month. And who knows, we may find far more impressive features and outlooks than that of Tecno. Stay tuned.
