Stable HarmonyOS 4.2 is here for Huawei P50 series with new security patch

Huawei P50 series has now started collecting the stable HarmonyOS 4.2 update with a bag of new features but the main highlight of this firmware is – interactive themes. Installing this firmware will add a new look to the device’s lock screen.

The Chinese phone maker is rolling out the stable HarmonyOS 4.2 update for the Huawei P50 series with the 4.2.0.120 version. But you can only jump to the new rollout if your phone is running on the 4.2.0.110 or 4.0.0.132 baseline builds.

Note that the models with the former baseline version will receive themes, display optimizations, and a May 2024 security patch. Whereas, the latter one will grab a huge changelog consisting of enhancements to every section of the handset.

Prevention is better than cure and we advise you to take a backup before proceeding with the download process to secure your data. Keep at least 8GB of storage space free to store the firmware and 50% of the battery level for a smoother installation.

Themes:

• Introduced a new geometry party theme that lets you select distinct triangular shapes to create a group thus, begins the party by following the click gestures to scroll above or below the lock screen.
• Added a new geometric sticker theme which can pile up different triangular shapes or colorful stickers, creating a personalized theme. Moreover, users can interact with these stickers with click gestures on the lock screen.
• Added a new mood fun theme where you can choose from various cute expressions freely as well as combine them to form an enriched theme via several layout methods.
• Added a new mood sticker theme which uses a rich collection of popular emoticons and 1500+ mood emoticons to form an ever-changing interactive theme hence, making the lock screen more fun.
