Last year, at Huawei Developer Conference 2020, Huawei introduced the 2.0 version of its in-house operating system, HarmonyOS AKA Hongmeng OS. This operating system brings new possibilities and hopes for the company as well as for the consumers.

The HarmonyOS 2.0 is not only powerful compared to the first-gen software but also comes with extended platform support including for smartphones, tablets, smart wearables, IoT devices as well as support for third-party device manufacturers such as home appliances.

These partners come from various fields as well as businesses, mainly residing in China including Midea, Robam, Joyoung, and smart car as well as other Autocar makers.

Related to this, an investor asked Joyoung management on the support platform, whether the company is planning to cooperate deeper with Huawei? The representative said that the company’s products have already started to use HarmonyOS.

On March 25, 2021, at the HarmonyOS mobile developer beta event, Duan Mengran, VP of Huawei’s Consumer Business AI and Smart Full Scenario Business Department announced that the current status of the HarmonyOS mobile developer beta and confirmed that the company will roll it out soon for the consumers.

Furthermore, he revealed that HarmonyOS mobile platform has gained over 300 application partners to develop the HarmonyOS app ecosystem and this number is expected to grow with time.

Moreover, there are 20 product categories and a total of 12 million third-party products supporting the Hongmeng system. Huawei’s Consumer Business Software Department Chief, Wang Chenglu, believes that Huawei will rollout HarmonyOS in hundreds of millions of devices in a single year.
