Some Huawei phones will directly receive HarmonyOS without even upgrading to EMUI 11 or Magic UI 4

We’ve just reported that Honor 9X will be upgraded to the HarmonyOS later this year and now there’s some more information to share with you on this matter that may excite some of the old Huawei smartphone users.

According to the information coming from tipster DigitalJun, Huawei is working hard to make a way to upgrade as much as users to the upcoming HarmonyOS as possible. The Chinese tech giant is developing this new software to make it compatible with most of the hardware available in the market.

Most interestingly, the tipster claims that Huawei will directly upgrade the smartphones that even not received EMUI 11 or Magic UI 4 but this upgrade process may take sometime later this year. Furthermore, the tipster reiterated that Huawei will no longer develop a new version of EMUI and will focus on HarmonyOS for smartphones.

Also, the models will be upgraded in batches, so we can expect the software to expand gradually among smartphones and other eligible devices. Moreover, old Honor smartphones that launched ahead of Honor and Huawei separation will receive the same treatment for the HarmonyOS.

To be mentioned, Huawei will provide a solid start to HarmonyOS and most of the users won’t have to worry about upgrading to EMUI 11 or Magic UI 4 because the adaptation process is very fast. Also, it’s suggested that users upgrading to this operating system will experience a better user experience.

Still, Huawei has not revealed any upgrade plan but Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO, Richard Yu confirmed that Huawei will launch HarmonyOS for mobile in April, followed by its mobile beta for different models.

According to a previous report, Huawei will install Hongmeng OS in over 300 million device, of which, 200 million only accounts for smartphones. These figures also include Hongmeng OS for tablets, smartwatches, smart home devices, and other third-party products.

HarmonyOS 2.0 Mobile:

Huawei launched HarmonyOS (Hongmeng OS) at Huawei Developer Conference 2019, the company initially introduced this software for smart screen products such as smart TVs. In the following year, Huawei announced HarmonyOS 2.0 with new platform support including smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, in-car systems, and more.

Last December, Huawei opened the mobile developer beta of HarmonyOS 2.0 and started early recruitment for smartphone models of Huawei P40, Mate 30, and MatePad Pro lineups. However, the testing remained limited to the Chinese market.

Still, Huawei has not unveiled when it’ll rollout the HarmonyOS for the global market but it’s likely to happen once the adaptation of this software completes in the home ground and then move on to the global consumers.
