Second-hand Huawei Mate 40 price hikes after Mate 50 launch
Huawei launched its next high-end flagship series- The Mate 50 series at the beginning of this week. As per the reports, the price of Huawei Mate 40 5G variant smartphone has increased after the Mate 50 flagship launch.
This is very surprising, isn’t it? This has happened because the Mate 50 lineup comes with 4G compatibility while the Mate 40 5G variant has 5G compatibility.
The phone is lacking 5G connectivity due to the ongoing US sanctions. In spite of its lacking the Huawei Mate 50 series is significantly welcomed by consumers to a great extent.
The standard Mate 50 and Mate 50 Pro were out of stock on many platforms like the Huawei Mall (V Mall) soon after the pre-sale started for the series.
Although, the lack of 5G technology in the new lineup has held more demand for the Mate 40 smartphones.
Because of this, there is a rise in demand for the Mate 40 smartphone in the market. This, in turn, increases the second-hand price of the Huawei Mate 40 smartphone.
Generally, the price of old smartphones drops with the release of new ones. But this time, instead of falling the price increases.
How much price increase?
According to the information, there is an increase of about 110 Yuan (approx 15.83 USD) which is 2.79% in the price of the Mate 40 5G (8GB + 128GB). Notably, the price of this phone was 4,999 Yuan (approx 719.22 USD) two years ago. And the current price of this smartphone in the second-hand market is around 4000 Yuan (approx 575.49 USD).
And, the report tells the value presentation rate of the phone has reached 81.17 % in the past two years after its release.
This proves the statement given by Yu Chengdong: “ Mate 40 series has become a financial product”.
The price hike is not happening for the first time, there was an increase in the price of old 5G compatible models even with the launch of the Huawei P50 series.
