Restricting Huawei from doing business will not make the US more secure or stronger: Responds Huawei

On Wednesday, US president Donald Trump has signed new order to ban on doing business with Chinese telecom giant Huawei.

Trump inks executive order to ban Huawei’s telecom kit

The US commerce department said it is adding Huawei Technologies and 70 affiliates to its so-called “Entity List” – a move that bans the telecom giant from buying parts and components from US companies without US government approval

To respond this action, Huawei called this order “unreasonable restrictions” on the US market and said it was willing to cooperate with the US government and come up with “effective measures to ensure product security”.

“Restricting Huawei from doing business in the US will not make the US more secure or stronger; instead, this will only serve to limit the US to inferior yet more expensive alternatives, leaving the US lagging behind in 5G deployment, and eventually harming the interests of US companies and consumers,” it said in a statement on Thursday.

“In addition, unreasonable restrictions will infringe upon Huawei’s rights and raise other serious legal issues,” the company added.

The US believes that telecom equipment made by Huawei Technologies could be used to spy on the country and is under control by the Chinese state government. On the other hand, Huawei has always denied these allegations and said their equipment has no such threats.
