Provide $5.6 billion to remove Huawei equipment: U.S. Carriers
There are numerous ways that we can explore Huawei‘s achievement in the global telecom market. Post-U.S. sanctions, Huawei has been facing a lot of difficulties as many of the U.S. carriers have been forced to quit doing business and remove Huawei equipment.
In the latest edition, there are over 181 applications from U.S. carriers that have developed plans to remove and replace equipment in their network from Huawei and another Chinese telecom equipment maker – ZTE.
Jessica Rosenworcel, Federal Communications Commission Chairwoman said US carriers have requested approximately $5.6 billion in order to remove Huawei equipment.
“While we have more work to do to review these applications, I look forward to working with Congress to ensure that there is enough funding available for this program to advance Congress’s security goals and ensure that America will continue to lead the way on #5G security,” said Jessica
FCC also replied on this matter:
The Supply Chain Reimbursement Program will reimburse providers of advanced communications services for costs reasonably incurred for removing, replacing, and disposing of communications equipment and services produced or provided by Huawei Technologies Company and ZTE Corporation.

Background of the story:
In 2019, Huawei has been placed under the Entity List, the U.S. made this list to prohibit Huawei’s business in the global market. The list also prohibits the company from purchasing the U.S. innovated technologies. This also has created a big issue for the firm to make new equipment.
Following this ban, FCC announced a date for US carriers to remove Huawei-made equipment and initially allocated $1.8 billion USD in 2019, and in 2020, the tech maker increased it to 1.9 billion USD.
