Huawei is working on the next-gen Kirin chip which could surpass the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. That says a new rumor surfing on the internet. It also claims that the China-made chip may even match up with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.

X tipster @jasonwill is once again up with new details from Huawei’s house. As per shared inputs, the upcoming Huawei Kirin chip will have a higher level of performance than most of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 smartphones present in the market.

The rumor further states that the next-gen Kirin doesn’t meet up with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in specs. Although it could catch up with the respective processor in terms of smoother transitions in UI as well as other small experiences to some extent.

In other words, the UI fluency of the next Kirin chip will be equivalent to devices equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It looks like the Chinese phone maker is preparing itself to compete with the major chipset rivals in the consumer market.

A Weibo tipster noted months back that the Mate 70 series will bring a brand-new Kirin chip. This processor will show a notable upgrade over its predecessors in performance. He also cited that it could match with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset.

But the latest rumor shows the new Kirin chip more powerful than previous predictions. Many reports implied that the Chinese tech giant will use a 5nm chip for its Mate 70 flagship. Thus, we can expect better device functioning with the next chipset.

Regardless of outdated equipment and tight U.S. restrictions, Huawei has been releasing new Kirin chips. Although these SoCs lack at some point, compared to its rivals. Yet these conditions can change in future – thanks to HarmonyOS NEXT.

Some details revealed that the upcoming HarmonyOS build will boost the new Kirin chips’ efficiency. Perhaps, software will play a crucial role in uplifting the chipset performance for Huawei’s premium devices.

As per Huawei, the company will focus on resolving 7nm chip issues instead of moving towards new tech. But constant rumors on the surface say otherwise. The firm has not confirmed any of these talks yet. Hence, it is better to take this rumor with a grain of salt.
