New WhatsApp beta brings ‘transfer ownership’ feature for Community
WhatsApp is dispatching a new beta update for Android testers that brings the “transfer ownership” feature to the Community. The update is rolling out gradually to limited beta users through the Google Play Beta Program and will soon go official.
The company has been testing a similar feature for the Channel section. It allows the admins to transfer their ownership to others. The feature is quite useful at times when the admins are unable to manage multiple channels in the application.
Now it seems WhatsApp is bringing the same transfer ownership feature to the Community. The new capability is arriving with the Android beta build 2.24.19.34.
Inputs reveal that the Community setting section now shows a new feature: “Add members” for the administrator. Users can add more than one admin in the community or assign new owners for their community as per their preference.
Earlier, community admins required to create an entire community and leave the previous one to assign a new owner. This often leads to confusion and results in the loss of members. But the new transfer feature is the best option in this case.

Note that after transferring the ownership to another member, the original admin will lose the major privileges. For instance, they cannot disable the community. But they will still play a significant role and can moderate all group chats in the community.
The original admin can also delete messages or manage members of the community despite the ownership transfer. WhatsApp will soon open this feature to general consumers via a stable update.
