New Huawei patent reveals lip movement device unlock feature
China’s patent office has recently published a new Huawei patent that shows a quick device unlock feature via lip movement, which is kind of interesting. The patent filed by Huawei has application number CN11305135A on December 26, 2019, and it was approved on June 29, 2021.
According to the details, the patent reveals a device unlock method, which uses biological specifications of the lip movement to authenticate the user verification and unlock the device. This technology is flexible anti-forgetting, anti-plagiarism, and modifiable.
The core part of the technology includes recording the first lip movement feature according to the current lip movement-image. Judging whether to unlock the device according to the matching degree between the first lip movement feature and the second lip movement feature, and the second lip movement feature is A pre-stored lip movement feature used to unlock the device.
Similar to its name, the lip movement unlocks feature uses the movement of lips to unlock the corresponding device. It could be substituted for the biometric unlock option such as fingerprint and face recognition.
In action, the device could use various sensors of what is currently used in facial recognition including the depth and infrared sensors along with the selfie camera.
This camera will then verify the lip move or you can say a specifically recorded lip gesture such as “kaboom” or “unlock” and it will unlock or kaboom your device. Currently, Huawei has not confirmed whether this lip unlock feature will go into production.
