Leica no longer exclusive to Huawei but that 1-inch camera of AQUOS R6 is a waste of time
Huawei is the first smartphone maker to partner with Leica, a German company that manufactures cameras, optical lenses, photographic lenses.
Since 2016, German camera maker has established a partnership with Huawei, and Leica cameras will be co-engineered into Huawei smartphones, including the P and Mate Series. The first smartphone to be co-engineered with a Leica camera was the Huawei P9.
The cooperation between both of the firms has been strengthening significantly in the past years and both have gone hand to hand to the best of their abilities.
It’s also expected that the upcoming Huawei P50 series will also be featuring Leica’s co-branded camera system. However, it seems to be the last collaboration between both of the companies but there’s no official confirmation available on this matter.
Thereafter, Leica is approaching other smartphone makers to create joint handsets, the list of potential customers includes Xiaomi, Honor, and Sharp. To be mentioned, the company is now looking for a multi-brand partnership.
Just recently, a Japanese phone maker – Sharp launched a phone name AQUOS R6, which has a rear camera system of a massive 1-inch 20.2MP photosensitive camera. The camera sensor size is the largest among any smartphone in the market. There’s also a TOF camera and another lens.
The phone is powered by Snapdragon 888 processor, 120Hz display, 5000 mAh battery, and more.
However, online reports suggest that even with the largest sensor, this phone lacks such as powerful image optimization as well as image processing capabilities, which doesn’t make sense to the consumers.
