Leak suggests Huawei MatePad 11.5 S equips Kirin 9000WL while Smart model has Kirin 9000WM
Huawei MatePad 11.5-inch S tablet and its Smart model edition stepped on the platform with its chipset mystery but a new leak suggests that both tablets equip different chips: Kirin 9000WL and 9000WM. Let’s take a deep dive into this topic.
A Weibo account named ZEALER says that despite the MatePad 11.5-inch S and Smart model tablets equipped with the same specs, they run on different chipsets.
The Huawei MatePad 11.5-inch S version (PaperMatte version) installs the Kirin 9000WL processor while the Smart Edition powers up with the Kirin 9000WM. The former chip is more robust in terms of performance compared to the latter variant.
At the same time, tipster @DigitalChatStation also cited that the MatePad 11.5-inch S model runs on Kirin 9000WL, confirming the above statement to some extent.
Further input reveals the CPU configuration of both the chipsets. The Kirin 9000WL has an octa-core arrangement with 12 threads. Whereas, the Kirin 9000WM has a Hexa-core alignment and includes only 9 threads. You can check more details below.
- Kirin 9000WL: 2 x HiSilicon @ 2.48GHz + 6 x HiSilicon @ 2.15 + 4 x Cortex-A510 @ 1.53GHz
- Kirin 9000WM: 2 x HiSilicon @ 2.35GHz + 4 x HiSilicon @ 2.15 + 3 x Cortex-A510 @ 1.53GHz
Perhaps customers with the newly launched MatePad tablets may notice some differences between the base and smart version performance. Other than the chipsets, both devices have similar specifications and internal capabilities.
Huawei has not officially listed the processor name on its website. Hence it’s unclear how far the leak marks the accuracy. The details also say that the Kirin 9000WL is likely equivalent to the Kirin 9000s chip for the Mate 60 series models.
