Latest WhatsApp Beta version 2.21.10.9 gives more details about end-to-end encrypted chat backups
Consumer personal data security is the major concern of every application developer because of the level of problems that it may bring for users if lacked. Last week, WhatsApp released a beta version 2.21.10.2, which confirms the end-to-end encryption of backups on Google Drive.
This new end-to-end encryption of backup feature aims to protect the user’s data with a password that prevents access to them by unauthorized persons while they are on Google Drive.
However, this feature is still under development, and the WhatsApp team is working to avoid bugs and issues before a stable rollout out.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has delivered the latest beta build version 2.21.10.9, which installs some small changes that have been made to the user interface. Let’s take dive into the new screenshots below.
After inspecting screenshots, we can see that one of these images reveals a status indicating whether the backup is protected through end-to-end encryption.
At the moment, there is no information on when this new feature could be made available to general users but it will surely be come, once the testing finishes.
