Latest update for Huawei Nova 5i released, brings April 2021 security patch
After EMUI 11, Huawei is currently testing the HarmonyOS 2.0 features and UI changes through the developer beta program in mainland China. Also, the company announced the second batch of devices for this testing that includes models from the Nova series.
According to the information, Huawei has set a target to upgrade at least 300 million devices over HarmonyOS, of which, 200 million devices will be smartphones including new and old ones.
On the other hand, Huawei has started to roll out the latest security patch released in April 2021 for the Huawei Nova 5i smartphones. As it fixes several new bugs and vulnerabilities found in the latest software build and provides better system security.
Aside from security improvements, at the moment, every Huawei user’s eyes are on the next big thing, HarmonyOS and they are eagerly waiting to shift on it.

What’s new in this update:
Huawei Nova 5i smartphone users can identify this update with EMUI version 10.0.0.140 upgrading from 10.0.0.139.
According to the changelog, this update integrates the April 2021 security patch that fixes 17 high and 69 medium levels of CVEs for improved system security.
Key points to users before Update:
- The device must have a better battery backup to install this update that is a minimum of 50%.
- It’s compulsory to check your storage availability(Internal/External SDcard) to download the latest update as per its size required
- A strong WiFi/mobile data connection is required for a buffer-free download of the package.
HOW TO INSTALL:
To download this update manually, go to Settings then System & updates, then open Software update, from here select Check for updates. If an update is available it’ll pop up on your phone and an option of Download and install will appear. Press the option and start to download.
Alternatively, you can also request software updates through the Support app. To do this, open the Support app, go to the Service tab on the bottom bar, tap on the update, then select Check for updates and then download and install.
