Kirin 985 will be mass produced later in the second quarter, will feature inside Mate 30 series
Huawei has decided to manufacture its upcoming and first ever Application Processor with Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) process, which will soon enter the mass production.

According to the industry sources, HiSilicon’s (Huawei’s semiconductor subsidiary) Kirin 985 will be manufactured using TSMSC’s EUV-based 7nm process technology, and mass production of this new chip is will kick off later in the second quarter of this year, reported DigiTimes.
“The Kirin 985 chip uses the Flip-Chip Package-on-Package (FC-PoP) service offered by Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE), and testing services from Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL)”, said the source. ASE and SPIL both come under ASE technology.

The source also noted that CHPT, another supplier for the upcoming Kirin 985 SoC, is also expected to see its revenues driven by a pull-in of orders for the solution later in the second quarter.
Huawei’s first-ever 7nm EUV processor will power the upcoming flagship Huawei Mate 30 series that will launch in around September or October.
