January 2021 security update released for Huawei Nova 5, 5i, 5i Pro and 5z smartphones
We are in the first week of February and Huawei has now begun sending the January 2021 security patch for devices of the Huawei Nova 5 family. This security patch fixes the different levels of exploits and issues to protect your device against threats.
Adapting devices:
- Huawei Nova 5
- Huawei Nova 5i
- Huawei Nova 5i Pro
- Huawei Nova 5z
Aside from this, the above-listed devices (except- Nova 5i) are eligible for EMUI 11 upgrades. These smartphone users are still waiting for their turn to test new EMUI 11 features. Currently, there is no official information is available regarding further major upgrades.
Meanwhile, users can install this latest firmware version on their smartphones that enhances the system security and improves overall device performance.

Software update details:
New Version:
- Huawei Nova 5, 5i Pro, and 5z users receiving EMUI 10.1 version 10.1.0.97 upgraded from 10.1.0.96.
- Huawei Nova 5i users receiving EMUI 10 .0 version 10.0.0.131 upgraded from 10.0.0.130.
Security: Integrates Android security patches released in January 2021 for improved system security.
January 2021 Security Patch Details: January 2021 security update install security fixes for different levels of exploits and issues within Huawei phones including 1 critical and 11 high levels of CVEs.
HOW TO UPDATE:
Download via Settings:
- Open Settings
- Click on the System & updates
- Open Software update
- Tap on Check for updates option
- If an update is available, click on Download and install
- After installation Reboot the device
Download via Support app:
- Open the Support app on your device
- Go to the Service tab
- Click on the update button
- Tap on Check for update option
- If an update is available, click on Download and install
- After installation Reboot the device
Note:
- The update is rolling out in batches so it may take some time/days to reach your device.
- The update will not erase any data.
- Maintain enough storage on smartphones.
