Is Huawei seeking new opportunities for chip growth in Trump’s comeback?
2024 has been a good year for Huawei as it earned profits in several fields including chip growth and this profit might double with Trump’s comeback. Well, that raises questions if the Chinese OEM seeking opportunities in the U.S. presidential elections.
Donald Trump served as the 45th president of the U.S. from 2017 to 2021. Now once again, he is ready to hold the presidential seat and rule the United States.
The news is both good and bad for Huawei and the Chinese semiconductor industry. Why so? Well, Donald Trump is an unpredictable man. He could either increase the trade export control or make them flexible for everyone including Chinese firms.
Amid this confusion, it seems Huawei and China are trying to seek new opportunities for chip growth in Trump’s comeback. Some top analysts and Chinese chip firms shared their opinions on this matter after Trump’s win in the U.S. elections.
The suggestions of Chinese analysts smell of building good relations with those, away from the U.S. elections rules. One of the Chinese chip sector analysts said that Trump’s return could welcome benefits to China’s chipset industry in many ways.
Donald Trump may open those gates for China that remained closed under the Biden administration. Chinese firms further hope for new cooperation in the U.S. after the new president takes office. Huawei will also try to benefit from this opportunity.
The tech giant is steadily progressing in the chip field. Despite tougher U.S. sanctions over advanced techs, the company managed to build new 5G chips for its smartphones and a significant AI processor (Ascend 910C) for its customers.
In case Trump restricts the demand for excessive trade controls on China, then it would help Huawei to improve its chip in a much better way. But again, every step has to be taken cautiously.
As mentioned, Trump is an unpredictable person and makes unexpected decisions. Hence, the Chinese firms are also ramping up the stock with some foreign chips and relevant components. It would be worth seeing how Huawei will capture benefits from this frizzy situation.
