Indian telecom department allows Huawei to take part in 5G trials

On Monday, India’s Department of Telecom decided to add Huawei in 5G network spectrum trials. This decision from India came at the time when the US is creating pressure on its allies to ban Huawei, citing espionage fears from its network gear.

The telecom department will confirm the trials spectrum to all telecom service providers who can then choose to partner with vendors such as Huawei, Nokia, Ericsson, and Samsung, reported CNBC-TV18.

The trials are scheduled to start in January and the telecom department will also hold a meeting on December 31 with all telecom vendors to discuss further on the 5G trials.

The DoT earlier this month approved prices for the next spectrum auction which will put on offer 6030 MHZ of airwaves specifically for 5G.
