Huawei’s growth forces Apple to offer discounts on iPhone 15 series in China

Apple offers unexpected discounts on the iPhone 15 series in China amid rising growth of the Huawei smartphone business. The American tech giant is trying to cope with the demand concerns and retain its shares in the native region.

On January 15, Apple initiated a sudden promotional event on its official China page and put forth eye-catching discounts on a variety of products including the iPhone 15 series. The flagship lineup gained a cost reduction of 500 yuan [$70.26].

According to the information, this discount will be valid from January 15 to 18 on the occasion of the ‘Lunar New Year’ event. The 5% cut-off on the iPhone 15 series reflects that the growth of Huawei has made a huge impact on Apple sales revenue in China, and the company is putting efforts to improve its plight.

The Senior Vice President of Canalys – Nicole Peng put his words on this matter and said:

“…the discounts did not come as a surprise as Apple is under pressure to boost sales globally, and especially in China, amid intensifying competition and Apple fans’ growing reluctance to upgrade. Huawei is making a comeback. Some Chinese users may return to using Huawei as driven by patriotism.”

It is worth mentioning that iPhone 15 series sales have seen a significant decline in China, compared to its predecessors. Meanwhile, Huawei has seemingly achieved new milestones with the debut of the Mate 60 series.

And now, the Nova 12 lineup is ready to take on the lead in the Chinese smartphone market. Huawei continues to provide ultimate rival models on the home ground. On the flip side, Chinese firms prohibit iPhone use for security concerns.

Moreover, some previous reports suggested that Apple will see a decline in its sales this year, due to the constant craze of the Mate 60 lineup among users. Perhaps, Apple sales will remain stagnant throughout the world with a major drop in China. Whereas, Huawei will keep pacing ahead with innovative products.
