Huawei has announced the XMAGE Trend Report 2023 is coming on February 26, it will be the first time, the company will publish the trend of photography and what XMAGE has achieved since its launch.

However, there are no additional details shared by Huawei. Instead, there are some teasers, which show how this camera imaging technology has affected the landscape of mobile photography among consumers.

The criteria of the Huawei XMAGE trend report 2023 could include various modes and selections while capturing an image or scenery such as macro, telephoto, ultra-wide angle, color, quality, selfies, portraits, animals, day, night time, and all types of photography scenarios.

When it was launched:

Back in May 2022, Huawei confirmed that its partnership with camera imaging tech maker, Leica has come to an end. These two companies achieved so much in the mobile camera field as they went their separate ways, while Leica joined forces with Xiaomi.

On the other hand, Huawei used past years of research into a brand new imaging technology developed on its own, called XMAGE. In July, Huawei officially announced XMAGE and promoted this tech as the future of Huawei mobile photography.

He Gang, President of Handset Business, Huawei Consumer Business Group, said “the creation and innovation in the past have helped Huawei to usher in the field of mobile camera technologies and matured the company to become a leader. XMAGE brings a breakthrough for a mobile imaging system,”

In October, Huawei launched Mate 50 series, the first flagship smartphone lineup to feature XMAGE. XMAGE focuses on four imaging systems: optical system, mechanical structure, imaging technology, and image processing. From the four dimensions of optomechanical computing, the entire system of XMAGE imaging system is combined.

For example – in the optical system, the super-optical variable camera on the Huawei Mate 50 series adopts the technology of variable aperture, which can achieve a ten-stop adjustable aperture at the physical level, bringing technological breakthroughs in three optical systems.

The entire lens module adopts a high-precision component design and assembly process to create a physical large F1.4 aperture.

The overall structure has a total of 23 precision components, including high-precision annular magnetic field micro-control motors, physical aperture blades, and other innovative originals, with a maximum precision of 5-10μm micron level.
