Huawei Watch 4 HarmonyOS 4

Today, Huawei started recruiting HarmonyOS 4 beta for the Huawei Watch 4 series in China. This new beta activity will allow users to experience the latest features before the official rollout.

Initially, Huawei starts things with limited testers but this is not the case here. What’s different at this time is that the company has kicked off the beta test for HarmonyOS 4 in public mode and not with the closed phase. It means anyone with the Huawei Watch 4 series can join the new recruitment phase and download the beta firmware. There is no slot restriction here.

Huawei is recruiting the Watch 4 (ARC-AL00CN) and Watch 4 Pro (MDS-AL00CN). The watch users are required to first upgrade with any of the following software versions to participate in beta recruitment.

  • HarmonyOS 3.1.0.186
  • HarmonyOS 3.1.0.168
  • HarmonyOS 3.1.0.153
  • HarmonyOS 3.1.0.140

HarmonyOS 4 public beta for Huawei Watch 4 comes with a new live window feature, a new live lock screen, and 3D games watch faces. There are more features, animations, and fluency added to the smartwatch.

Here are some of the important notes before you upgrade.

Before you upgrade, ensure that the power of the watch and smartphone is not below 45%. For the OTA package transfer, keep the smartphone and smartwatch near each other. For a better user experience, you should upgrade the Huawei Health app to the latest version using the AppGallery.

The latest HarmonyOS 4 public beta version may take some time to install in the smartwatch based on the network conditions. Do not upgrade the smartwatch during that time.

It is recommended that you turn on automatic updates so that a notification can arrive after public beta recruitment registration. Also, use the WLAN option in the update settings for a convenient upgrade process. Last but not least, the public beta version is the nearest door to a stable release. Therefore, it won’t support rollback option.
