Huawei Watch 3 and Watch 3 Pro: Fall Detection Feature
Huawei Watch 3 series comes in two variants – Huawei Watch 3 and Watch 3 Pro. These new smartwatches come with a powerful HarmonyOS 2 operating system as well as a new user interface.
The Watch 3 Series doesn’t rely too much on smartphones and provides most of the features natively. The Watch 3 comes with various new additions including the e-SIM services, pre-installed AppGallery, data privacy, and more.
Nowadays smartwatches are mainly becoming popular because of health monitoring and fitness features. In terms of health and fitness, the Watch 3 series equips with systems such as fall detection, SOS alert, heart rate, SpO2, skin temperature detection, 100 workout modes, and more.
In this article, we are talking specifically about the Fall Detection Emergency SOS alert, its use case, its importance, and how to enable them.
Emergency SOS:
With Emergency SOS, you can quickly and easily call for help and alert your emergency contacts. But the watch will start functioning for emergency service only when the Fall detection feature is enabled.
To stay away from false alarms, emergency contacts are given priority for SOS emergency calls. Users of this feature are required to add a contact manually, if not added.
Note:
- The Watch owner can only request help by sending a help message only when the watch is connected to the Health app.
- These help messages are not supported on iOS phones.
How to enable automatical SOS requests:
- Open the Watch menu
- Go to Settings
- Click on Security and Privacy
- Tap on SOS
- Enable Fall detection
What happens after the watch detects a fall:
- If the emergency is available, then the system will automatically call the first emergency contact and send an SMS message containing your current location to all emergency contacts.
- If no emergency contact has been set, then you have to select one from the public emergency call numbers displayed on the screen.
How to enable SOS requests manually:
- Press the Up button five times consecutively to send an SOS request.
More information:
- If the fall detection is disabled, your watch will not make emergency calls after it detects a serious fall. Then, users can request SOS emergency requests by pressing the up button five times.
- If the watch is connected to the phone via Bluetooth, you can make calls on the phone.
- If the phone is not connected, you can only make calls and send SMS messages after enabling the eSIM service on your watch.
