Huawei wants to sell 70 million smartphones in 2024: Report

Huawei wants to double sales of smartphones by up to 70 million in 2024, suggests a report. This new shipment forecast also indicates at the company’s confidence in market demand.

NikkeiAsia reports that Huawei has set a goal to ship between 60 to 70 million smartphones in 2024. This figure is over the combined numbers of mobile shipments in 2023 and 2022. It’s also reported that Huawei is collecting important smartphone supply chain components to prepare for future releases.

Earlier this year, Huawei planned to ship 30 million smartphones in 2023. The company revised this shipment forecast to 40 million around June with the robust sales of the Huawei P60 series.

However, the recent launch of the Huawei Mate 60 series has exceeded Huawei’s past forecast. These phones are making sold-out sales on both online and offline channels.

In that case,  a past report predicts that the Huawei Mate 60 series could break all of the shipment records of the previous Mate series devices. This new smartphone lineup is also gaining popularity with its 5G network capability, enabled by a new Kirin chipset.

Building Inventory

The report also reveals that Huawei is stocking includes lenses, cameras, print circuit boards (PCB), and other parts. All of these components stock strategy is inline to achieve this year and next year’s sale target. According to supply chain managers and analysts, Huawei has been building smartphone components inventory since the beginning of this year.

With a high demand, Huawei is pursuing supply chain partners to deliver new components on time, while also storing them in the inventory simultaneously.

This rise in popularity is also a wake-up call for the company as the US could further grip US sanctions to cut off its ties with current overseas suppliers. For now, the US has not announced anything specific on this matter but Huawei’s preparations seem to be going accordingly.
