Huawei Wallet app reportedly drops support for POS (point of sale) service
Huawei Wallet app is reportedly dropping support for POS (point of sale) service for smartphone users. The company has announced the closure of this facility for some unknown reasons and restricted the new user enrollment process for the time being.
What is POS Service?
Huawei Wallet once claimed to enable users to turn their handsets into a POS machine for easy payments. These machines or devices allow you to add up and accept payments from customers or other persons for items being purchased.
The Chinese phone maker and China UnionPay Business jointly initiated this service for their customers to ease money transactions in any place. One can receive payments on their Huawei phone without any additional device requirement.
Benefits: It also lets you access features like mobile flash payment, bank cards, QR codes, and more. The capability has been useful for merchants as it reduced the acquiring payment cost. Although it seems you may no longer use this facility.
Huawei has now announced a temporary closure of POS service support for the Wallet app. The shared information reads the following statement for the application:
“Due to adjustment to the mobile POS business of Huawei and China UnionPay Business Co., Ltd., the app portal for China UnionPay Business Mobike POS service has temporarily closed from 0:00 on May 30, 2024.”
The company restricted new users from registering and said to close the merchant accounts for old users as well. But it is worth noting that it’s a temporary shutdown and Huawei says to notify users about the reopening time in the future.
